Debates

Well I'm very pleased with John Kerry's showing in the debates. He kept his cool and kept Bush on the defense. Some highlights that I enjoyed were things like Bush's ranting about the flu virus and how we're developing a new one in Canada. Then later he mentioned that Canadian drugs aren't safe. Yep, there were some good ones. Of course Bush lied saying he never said he wasn't concerned with Osama Bin Laden. He did that in 2002 at a press conference. Or this little joke "He talks about PAYGO. I'll tell you what PAYGO means, when you're a senator from Massachusetts, when you're a colleague of Ted Kennedy, pay go means: You pay, and he goes ahead and spends. " I'm sure Pete liked hearing Ted Kennedy being brought up. But I think it's hilarious that Bush could ever think he could criticize anyone for over spending. Anyhow, my favorite quote is probably what he said about his wife. "She speaks english better than me, people understand what she says."

Ah but keep in mind that the point here is not to shatter the bubble of the rich guys, it's to call to arms those that are skeptical of a better option. Kerry at least proved to anyone leaning toward him that he isn't a losing bet and does have the ability to win this thing. All we can keep in mind is vote vote vote! The more voters, the more democrat voters. That's just the historical fact. The debates were very odd this year, and I hate to bring up a silly program, but there's a show on VH1 called "this week" or something, and they had an 'upgrade'/'downgrade' clip on the debates. It was very funny. Anyhow I'm getting off track. The thing is that there are all sorts of buzz stories about Bush wearing a wire and silly comments about what the debaters said to each other during each of their cute TV handshakes, but the main thing is both Kerry and Edwards went to the challenge under THEIR RULES. It was the Bush camp that wanted a quiet audience that made his little chuckles and smarms look weak and pathetic. They wanted the ten feet away podiums to keep everyone from seeing how short Bush is next to Kerry, and that didn't work since they were seen next to each other and in split screen Kerry looked better. During the VP debate, they chose to have a sit down format that made Cheney look like a roving madman and while Edwards looked naive, he didn't lose. As I said before, he didn't win either, but again put to the facts he did. Cheney and Bush have both been caught lying and several times in front of the press and in front of the people. let's just hope people were actually listening this time.
