If you think this is a good idea....

Then you're probably a moron too:

South Carolina Lawmaker Seeks to Ban Federal Currency

South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts has introduced legislation that would mandate that gold and silver coins replace federal currency as legal tender in his state.

As the Palmetto Scoop first reported, Pitts, a Republican, introduced legislation this month banning "the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin" in South Carolina.

In an interview, Pitts told Hotsheet that he believes that "if the federal government continues to spend money at the rate it's spending money, and if it continues to print money at the rate it's printing money, our economic system is going to collapse."

"The Germans felt their system wouldn't collapse, but it took a wheelbarrow of money to buy a loaf of bread in the 1930s," he said. "The Soviet Union didn't think their system would collapse, but it did. Ours is capable of collapsing also."

The solution to our problem is not to make things worse. When gold and silver were standard currency, you required a person to actually weigh each piece and coin. Also, transfer rates weren't the same from state to state. So what Mr. Toofuckinstupidtotiehisshoes is saying here is that things were better before they were standardized. AKA regulation bad, free market is teh best thing evah! Sometimes I wonder if these people actually had their brains transplanted from a corpse they dug up a hundred or so years ago. How many times are conservatives going to bring up bad ideas from the last century to solve our problems? Is it really that hard to give up racism and landed gentry? It's 2010! Gold isn't even the most precious metal anymore.
