HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE

So Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize and all anyone seems to say in comment is that he didn't deserve it. Now I will say that I personally found it just as much a surprise as Obama did. Even he didn't fully believe that this honor should be granted to him, but there's something else worth mentioning here that I think is proof of our bizarre attitude in this country. No matter where you look in the blog world, there's nothing but hate being spewed. "He didn't even do anything" or "He was only in office 11 days when he was nominated" and the like. While I can completely appreciate the shock at the award, I just don't understand why it has to be translated into something so negative. We should be proud as a country that the International community has a different view of our policies than in recent years. We should be proud that we have a sitting President who is also a Nobel winner. We should be happy that good news exists that is about the United States. Especially in the midst of two very complicated combat theaters, economic woes around the country and growing concern that the health care issue will never be settled. We should take this moment as proof of a new direction for our country and proof that our President is being viewed internationally as a man of peace. Or as Obama himself put it:
"I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century."

You see? No matter how much Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck or any of the idiots preaching the current waves of hate have claimed, to Obama, it's not about Obama. To Obama, it's about the nation and the world and a challenge that must be faced and conquered for the benefit of this country and the rest of the world.
