Just a Note for browsers

Just in case you browse without going into the comments, Pete's earlier article about nuclear weapons in Iraq is false.  If you follow that same link that he posted, you'll see the real Washington Times article saying that the supposed 3 nuclear missiles found in Iraq never existed at all.  Here's the link again for anyone interested.

Oh and Pete, the link button if you want to look again is right there on the post screen.  If you look just above where you type out your message and just below the title of the post, you should see a bunch of buttons and things.  From the left there's a font box, a size box, a bold button,  an italics button, a text color button and da da da da dada!: the link button!  It's hard to tell what it's supposed to be, but it looks like the infiniti sign on top of a globe.  If you hover over it the tooltip says "link".  So the procedure is to highlight what you want to link to look like(i.e. above I highlighted the work "link" and then click that button and you can input the URL of the page you're linking to.

Seriously guys, I know there have been some gripes about this blog's functionality, but I can't see the problems because no one has been descriptive enough.  The bottom line is that this site is free.  It costs nothing to post and add users and do all of the things we want.  If someone is willing to fork out a monthly fee for this site, I will be more than happy to help you set up another blog elsewhere.  Otherwise HoM is here to stay and if you're having troubles, call me or send an email to the helpdesk at blogger.com.  They're very helpful and can figure out what's going on.  Several folks have mentioned errors posting or joining up, and I still think there's nothing wrong with the site, it's just that somewhere there's a user error.  The only other thing I can think is that blogger may not work well on a non-internet explorer browser or an old version of explorer.  I can't really test that, because I only have updated software available to me.  I think the best solution is to just call me when you have a problem, or email me and try to send a screenshot of what you tried to do and where it failed.  Just like IT support though, I need specifics.  The internet has a lot of general and default errors that have nothing to do with the site you're on.  I'll stop babbling about this, but I really want everyone happy with this site, because I really like it a lot.

Well then you all can go surfing in cyberspace. I don't have the time now to look for, set up and restart this blog. Also, I don't think it's fair for everyone to rip down the site and not once has someone followed any of my suggestions for solving problems. If you think elsewhere is going to be better, lot's of luck to you. I looked at several sites before I chose this one. I chose this one because it's a lot easier to use than many of the others. It allows us to block out random trolls by allowing members only commenting. I don't know, I'm just fed up with everyone complaining about something that I have yet to see problems with. Perhaps I would see some problems if anyone would pay attention to how I've tried to solve them. I don't care. I really don't. You guys want to post here, and you are able to post here. Other folks are having problems, I don't care anymore. Apparently no one thinks I know anything, so you know something, go on. Find another site with free blogging and expect it to work with no problems. Blogger is one of the most popular if not the most popular blog site. The only problems I've experienced are that some times in the morning the site is down temporarily. But at least the data is saved. I don't know. I'm fed up with hearing about mystery problems that no one gives me details on. I reply and then I get nothing but dead air followed by more inconsistent complaints that have no specific information. If it's got to be end all be all with you guys, lot's of luck. That's all I have to say. I'm more than happy to make this site available to the outside world and just post my own crap here when I feel like it. If you think I'm a selfish bastard for all of this, well I am. So there it is.

I did some more research for those of you that are upset with blogger. As I see it there are two other sites with the same functionality and are free. There's crimson blog and tblog. Crimson is really bare bones. The interface is a little weird, and the templates(the way the page looks) are really shabby in my opinion. Tblog is almost the same, but they bunk you by making everything an option. In other words, Setting up a tblog would take me about three times as long as it took to create this one. It also has a different interface that I really don't like very much. As I said before if you're having issues with blogger, a new provider is not the answer. It makes more sense to get everyone using this one properly and we can go from there, otherwise I'll just open the comments to the public so anyone can post comments and I'll just allow a few of you to "guest blog" so we don't have the gripes over user ids. I'll just create a guest blogger account with a dummy email address, and whoever wants to be that guy for the week will be that. If you want to see what to other blogs look like, you can check out http://houseofmadness.crimsonblog.com
or http://dr4lom.tblog.com
I just created the sites with no extras set(links, comments, etc.)
If anything, I'd like to get people using this blog well because there is a better comments software that I use on the Wayward Theatre site http://the24hourtheatreproject.blogspot.com
Anyone can post comments there, so if you want to see how that looks, check it out. There are also a lot of changes I'd like to make eventually like putting in a links section where we can link to each other's favorites sites or we could just put things of interest. I'd like to put up some graphics on the header and well a lot of stuff as time allows, but I can't consider moving forward with all of the bad blood people have been touting. I'm really in a take it or leave it attitude on this, I've already spent enough time to get more complaints for trying to do a favor. I don't mean to sound like a bitch about this, but nothing on the internet is an exact science and if you don't pay money you don't get the greatest thing out there. In fact, blogger has a pro version that has better functionality and more options, as well as off site hosting so the data is safer, but that's like ten or twenty bucks a month, and I just don't think it's worth it without more traffic either from outside people or internally.
