How can you call yourself Christian?

Seriously, I can totally get the archaic concept that somehow God is there to punish us all when we do bad things and reward us when we make good sacrificial offerings of virgins and whatnot, but Pat Robertson seems to believe that rain dancing actually works:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A senior White House adviser says evangelist broadcaster Pat Robertson's remark that Haiti has been "cursed" doesn't express the spirit of the American people or the president.

Valerie Jarrett said Thursday on ABC's "Good Morning America" that Roberston's statement left her speechless and called it "a pretty stunning comment to make."

A devastating magnitude-7 earthquake hit the small island nation on Tuesday.

The next day, Robertson said Haiti has been "cursed" because of what he called a "pact with the devil" in its history. His spokesman said the comments were based on Voodoo rituals carried out before a slave rebellion against French colonists in 1791.

Spokesman Chris Roslan says Robertson never said the earthquake was God's wrath.

So kudos to the White House for making a direct statement against this asshole's comments, but I think that somehow there's another step that needs to be taken. I mean doesn't this guy have some church authority to tell him to shut up? If a Bishop makes a dumbass comment, there are Cardinals to wipe his ass in public and ensure he doesn't make that mistake again. This jerk has claimed Katrina, the Tsunami, 9/11 and now this is all a response from God and not a natural occurrence. This is truly proof that at least this wing of the Christian sect hasn't gotten over animal sacrifice, idol worship and the like. How else would you explain that Jesus and the Father he spoke of in the bible would destroy thousands of innocent people for that sake of proving some obscure point? Makes me want to as Pat a simple question....
