Assfuck in Cheif

More Gonzalez fun:

Democrats said the attorney general had not been forthcoming with Congress about his role in the controversy surrounding the eight fired U.S. attorneys.

"He is incapable of leading the department," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. "He has misled the American public, and he puts politics ahead of the rule of law."

Later today the Democrats will push a vote saying Gonzales "no longer holds the confidence of the Senate and of the American people."

Meanwhile, in Bulgaria today Bush said the vote would have no effect.

"They can have their votes of no confidence, but it's not going to make the determination about who serves in my government," Bush said. "This process has been drug out a long time."

Bush added that he believed the vote was politically motivated.

Right, it must be politically motivated, because there weren't inquiries proving Gonzalez lied to Congress about the involvement of DoJ firings nor was there evidence revealed that Gonzalez attempted to muscle the former Attorney General to agree to illegal surveillance. None of that happened at all. Gonzalez is a stand up guy that remembers everything that happened and none of it on his side was politically motivated. Nope, no guilt here. No lies. Just us Bush Cronies Administration officials.

UPDATE: Well apparently the above quote was shortened. In the Times, Bush's quote is:

“They can try to have their votes of no confidence, but it’s not going to determine — make the determination who serves in my government,” Mr. Bush said, adding, “This process has been drug out a long time, which says to me it’s political.”

Oh so because it's gone on for so long, that makes it political. I see. Because inquiries seldom take very long when they involve serious arguments. Only political bashing requires three years to fire an incompetent asshole. Bush's logic here is just awesome. I mean to claim that Congress is being political for trying to discredit someone who's not supposed to be political but surely is, well it's just kind of funny. But at least it's not as much of a stretch as this:

He was forced to withdraw his nomination of General Peter Pace to be chairman of the military’s joint chiefs of staff to avoid a bruising nomination fight. Mr. Bush put the blame on Congress.

And now Democrats, seeking to revive the controversy over Mr. Gonzales’ role in the dismissal of federal prosecutors, have scheduled the no-confidence vote.

“It’s an interesting comment about Congress, isn’t it, that, on the one hand, they say that a good general shouldn’t be reconfirmed, and on the other hand, they say that my Attorney General shouldn’t stay,” he said Monday. “And I find it interesting. I guess it reflects the political atmosphere of Washington.”

Yes, because confirming a General has everything to do with accusing the Attorney General. They both have General in their title, so they must be the same. What a fuckin' idiot we have for a President.

Oh but the Albanians love him, remember?
