Veggies

I saw this post today about being a vegetarian and all the flack people give you for it. I have to say, it is a pain in the ass in certain company to be 1. vegetarian and 2. not female, rail thin skinny or anemic, or pale and pasty looking. Thing is... I've been a vegetarian for a long time now. I don't eat meat. It has nothing to do with current meat packing issues(although I think the way they prep, store and deliver meat these days is pretty bad unless you're buying organic). It has nothing to do with the ethical treatment of animals(although I do really like animals). It's just a choice I made a long time ago and personally I like it. I don't think that meat tastes like crap, but I don't eat it. I feel better not eating meat, because overall, I'm healthier. I feel better not eating meat, because I don't really like fast food all that much. I feel better not eating meat because it confuses the hell out of you carnivores. Okay that last part isn't really true. But I don't think I ever sit eating an obviously non-meat meal in front of someone that doesn't know I don't eat meat without getting a conversation in which I somehow have to either admit that humans are omnivores and bow to the meat eater, or I have to go all vegan freak and tell them off for giving me a hard time. Get over it already. If there is one problem with Americans, it's that they just can't accept that someone might possibly think differently than they do and moreso that they think that way because of reasons that aren't already burned into your stereotyped brains.
I don't eat meat. I still get fat once in a while. I have better skin complexion than most meat eaters. I'm not a chick nor do I feel not eating meat has any effect on my masculinity. I just don't like to have 16 oz. of fatted calf sitting in my belly all day long. What's the big fuckin' deal?
