Open Foot, Insert Lies

You really have to watch this one.

BUSH: The terrorists attacked us and killed 3,000 of our citizens before we started the freedom agenda in the Middle East.

QUESTION: What did Iraq have to do with it?

BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

QUESTION: The attack on the World Trade Center.

BUSH: Nothing. Except it’s part of — and nobody has suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a — Iraq — the lesson of September 11th is take threats before they fully materialize, Ken. Nobody’s ever suggested that the attacks of September the 11th were ordered by Iraq.

Yeah and um...
" Before September the 11th, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. But chemical agents, lethal viruses and shadowy terrorist networks are not easily contained. Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons and other plans -- this time armed by Saddam Hussein." Bush SOTU 2003

CHENEY: If we’re successful in Iraq, … we will have struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if you will, the geographic base of the terrorists who have had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 9/11.” [NBC, Meet The Press, 9/14/03]

RUSSERT: The Washington Post asked the American people about Saddam Hussein, and this is what they said: 69 percent said he was involved in the September 11 attacks. Are you surprised by that?
CHENEY: No. I think it’s not surprising that people make that connection.
MR. RUSSERT: But is there a connection?
VICE PRES. CHENEY: We don’t know.
[NBC, Meet the Press, 11/14/03]

This administration has talked back and forth about Iraq and 9/11 that even if there was never a direct statement that Hussein had something to do with 9/11 how could any American think otherwise? Particularly when 9/11 was cited as the main reason why we HAD to go to war in Iraq.
And more so, what about the proposition that was made... WMDs. That link to the SOTU will also show you the famous 16 words in which Bush declared that Hussein sought to purchase large amounts of uranium from Africa among the myriad of other BS comments on what weapons existed in Iraq that have still not been found by anyone anywhere near Iraq(and those supposed mustard gas cannisters circa 1984 aren't really worth disposing a leader and destroying a country's infrastructure I don't care what you say).
