Schmidt

I haven't mentioned anything about this partly because it isn't any where I can actually vote and more so because I haven't paid that close attention. But there's an election tomorrow for an Ohio Congressman, and in the runnings are a veteran from the Iraqi war named Hackett(D) who has some pretty good comments and seems like a fairly upstanding guy for a lawyer. He was recently attacked for calling Bush a Son of a Bitch, but he did say he'd die for him, because that's what you do in the armed services. Anyhow, his opponent is this really uptight conservative named Schmidt. Just as a brief fill in(sorry no links today) here's what I can gather about her:
Her campaign manager is super homophobic despite the fact that he's big time into bondage and sexual deviency
She lied yesterday on the news claiming she never knew Noe(the guy involved in the Ponzi scheme with the rare coins-see below) when in fact he's contributed to her campaign and Jean Schmidt was Vice Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee. During the same period, Tom Noe was a member of the Board of Regents. Noe has made statements about her and she's done the opposite, so she's a big fat liar.
She got all bent out of shape on Hardball I think it was, and it was pretty funny. She almost started yelling at the interviewer.
She had no respect for the fact that Hackett is a veteran and in fact used that information to attempt to discredit him as being fit for office.
Oh and she talks like a creepy female version of Rumsfeld, just spouting out the administration's talking points without really paying attention to how batty they sound strung together.
So if you're at all able to vote in this election, I'd go for the war veteran. Not because he's a Dem or a veteran, but mostly because he seems like an actual human being and not a clone from some BDSM's version of the Stepford Wives.

LATE UPDATE: Meant to get to this right away, but Elvira Gultch won over Hackett. But the republicans are sure to take note of this one. She only won by a single digit of votes. This is red state Ohio and a democrat came a few votes from winning. Kudos to the folks in the rural counties(yes I said rural) that actually made a good choice in voting for Hackett.
