Epiphany – Story vs. Fact

I met a rose that smiled so sweet

With gifts of light and marigolds

We mended stems and

Faced the truth

Of story vs. fact

“What a joke.” Say the Owl

and the story flowed

“Neglected opportunity must be nice”

I’m just a stupid liar

I guess

Standing beautiful the rose

Dipped her petals to the phone

And told “the truth is obvious

Only if you listen well”

So I cried in quiet silence

With wine and kitty fur

And figured out the story

And why it doesn’t exist

Instilled now this epiphany

The gracious gift of Rose

Is separating this from that

And living for yourself
