Governor of NJ resigns.
There are some interesting points to this story. First off, there's supposedly a sexual harrassment case that will be filed soon declaring that one of the employees in the office was harrassed by New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey, and it's possible that there was a plot to push him out of the closet to remove him. The sad thing is that admitting to an extra-marital affair, gay or not is like crucifiction for a high office in the United States of the Bible. It's sad because he could've come out been noticed as the first out of the closet gay governor, and then he could've ran again and won, but with this resignation it's just more fodder for the gay bashers to claim lack of morality and by morning Sen. Rick Santorum will be claiming that McGreevey had a relationship with a tortoise. Ah well, I give the guy credit for having the balls to just come out regardless of what might've been to reasons why.

Pete, my post was not saying anything at all about outrage over how this happened, I just think it's a shame. What's shocking to me about this story is how it came out. First there was a resignation in a very messed up administration with no given reason, then the story is republished with the homosexual rhetoric. It seems almost obvious that this wasn't a DNC way to get their "ringer" in the office, it was most likely a blackmail attempt to out a disliked politician and in response he chose resignation. This is a bad thing for the homosexual community because it adds more bad examples to the list, and that adds to dogmatic crap statements like the ones at the end of your comment. Gee, Pete what are you against more, gay people that have nothing to do with you or Hillary Clinton because you're upset there's a woman in power you disagree with? Why are Hillary and Ted Kennedy your most commented dems even when the topic has absolutely nothing to do with them? And to answer your question, he was refering to himself as Gay American like you're a Straight American. Like some people are RICH Americans. Some poeple are POOR Americans. Some people are happy americans and some are sad Americans. Just because you put an adjective in front of 'American' doesn't make it a race. Pete, you normally have a strain of something good in your posts that supercedes your prejudice, but this was a low post. I'm just keeping up with the news of the day and you're ready to string up some faggots. That's sad.
Pete what bothered me most about your comment is that it was insensitive for no reason. I don't feel sorry for McGreevey at all. It's a shame though, because it's a reflection on how our society views gay men. Were he to have a straight relationship outside of marriage, I'm sure the backlash would've paled in comparison, and the guy would probably still be in office. The sad truth is that so many people go through life lying to everyone around them because of the dogmas against homosexuality. What surprised me was how you phrased everything as if you don't appreciate that this is a big deal these days. And anything that adds to fodder against any group, political, religious or otherwise is bad for that group. This happening is bad for the homosexual community. But there's also more going on here. This was forced by someone within his administration, which means it's most likely led by corruption. That is also bad, but for government. The DNC didn't force him out, someone else did. The DNC didn't decide to do it now to avoid a special election, the governor did. And if you were in office, you'd do the exact same thing to prevent a dem from getting in office, and you can tell me all day long it isn't true, because you're the most partisan person I know. I haven't blamed Bush or the Church at all on this comment, so again I don't know what your second comment is supposed to mean. And I still stand by my position on the Hillary business. I don't care if she's the biggest dyke on capitol hill. It has zero to do with the governor of New Jersey and bringing her up is just a cheap shot. I take a lot of cheap shots at Bush and the crew up there, but that's because they deserve it. Hillary Clinton is not causing the complete disrespect of true constitutional American values, George W. Bush is. So as much as I'm no Clinton fan, Bubba or Hilly, I still have a lot of respect for both of them. I would take Bill Clinton back as president in a heartbeat and knowing the way their political views are, I'd take Hillary over Bush just as quickly. So I guess I was a tad oversensitive with your comment, but it was still rude and out of place. I wasn't even debating anything at the start, I was merely saying what was being reported about a fairly major thing that happened recently. Sometimes I think you should look for what I'm doing before you jump on what I'm saying. And if you think I'm guilty of the same, prove to me that your comment wasn't intended to get me riled for posting something you disagreed with. It's what every major paper had to say about the incident the day of the release, and I got that story on the blog less than a half an hour after it was released. Tell me what about your comment helped further the dialogue about the event. I know you're not against gay people Pete, but just like calling women bitches all day long degrades them, regardless if it's a joke or just not ill intentioned, so do comments like those you made about gays.
GOVERNORS! I SAID GAY GOVERNORS. How many gay governors are there? None. That's the point I was making. Berger didn't take shit and that's been proven time and time again. And who the fuck cares about some wingnut theory about Hillary being a murderer. Seriously, Pete I know I get hung up on some crack pot conspiracies, but you just believe anything Bill O'Reilly says, your style is actually similar. Pay little attention to the other person's argument, bring up garbage that doesn't have anything to do with the topic and make it out like how could anyone come to another conclusion? As for the comments you made, it wasn't so much your phrasing as your candor. You have such a negative attitude towards a topic that I wasn't even politicizing. I wasn't marching down the street for the dems to promote a gay man that can't be honest with his family. I wasn't even mentioning that he was a democrat. Then to have you just mock his very brave statement to the world "My truth is I am a gay American" by making an ignorant shot at his wording. "since when is gay a race" since when are adjectives used to describe proper nouns? Y'know what, just forget I said anything. You haven't understood why I even posted that to begin with and it's likely you won't. You're too hung up on the politics of it as opposed to just the effect of an incident on society.
