Absentee ballot problems

It feels like 2000 again.

The fact that it's gone on forever doesn't make it less of a problem. It sucks you got screwed out of your vote, but the main point here is that our entire election system should've gone through an overhaul due to what happened in 2000, and barely anything has happened at all. The Diebold "We're going to be proud to deliver the election to George W. Bush" comments not to mention the mess of a database with measly security make what little effort they've done to "improve" voting just rediculous. Of course the smart thing would be to remove or adjust the electoral college to make voting more based on popular vote, and then every aspect of voting should be improved. No one said the computer was bad, but you need verification on paper, before the vote is tallied that you voted correctly. The dangling chad business could even be solved, if the equipment had a little tweaking it might work better than ever.
Come on, we're supposed to be the example of democracy, and we're already having independent review boards monitor our elections because we screwed up the last one so much. Of course then you have Ann Coulter saying we should reinstate poll taxes and require a certain education level to vote. When will this woman leave the Jim Crow bigoted America? Sorry to rant, but if you guys are interested there are a ton of PACs that are strickly trying to solve the voting problem we have. These are not partisan organizations, they just want to protect our rights. If anyone expresses interest I'll post some sites and addresses here so you can sign petitions or contribute in any way you'd like.
