I'm not a huge fan of Edwards, I have to admit, but given the current climate, he's about the best Kerry could have. He brings votes from the south and puts some generation span on this ticket. Edwards has the youth that the Bush Cheney ticket lacks severly. Which brings me to a point. Don't skip the article, but let's talk about Cheney for a moment. Now we all have our preconceived notions about what a VP does, which really isn't much(other than the senatorial duties), but why would it make sense to stick with Cheney when the easiest thing would be to drop him for a younger more popular repub? Let's face it the guy's health is awful, he's got that Phil Hartman Frankenstein thing happening with his lower jaw, he's been the most blatently caught liar of the crew, and he just said "Fuck off" in a public forum when being questioned about his shaky energy policy.
Here's where I bring up something Pete might agree with. Cheney = scapegoat. Rumsfeld = scapegoat. Condileeza = scapegoat. Bush with new people = hero of the day. Do they not see this? I mean unity is one thing, but not only would Bush have gotten more popularity dumping Rummy once the Abu Guraib pics came out, but if he were to dump Cheney he could lay a lot of the misguided actions of these past years on him. Maybe they still think they've done everything right. What do you guys think?(and read up on Edwards, he's a pretty decent guy, and if you get on my case about his experience, remember G.W. hadn't even finished his full term as Governor before he ran for preznit.)
